Prayer Corner

Each week a new prayer will be added

I pray, Lord, for the gift of love;

  for if I have no love, I am nothing.

May my love be patient and kind,

  not jealous or conceited or proud.

May it not be ill-mannered or selfish or irritable.

Let it not keep a record of wrongs.

Let it not be happy with evil,

  but let it be happy with the truth.

May my love never give up;

  and may its faith, hope and patience never fail.

May my love be eternal.

Based on 1 Corinthians Chapter 13

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Father, you search me and you know me.
I know myself, but you know me better.
You know my shyness and my inhibitions;
you know my pride and my independence.
Give me the courage, Father,
to open my heart to your great love
and to trust that in giving myself to you,
I shall be returned greater than before.
Amen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Merciful God, give me serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.

~~~~~~~~
Please God, help me;
destroy the pride that keeps me from you, and fill me with your Spirit.
Open my ears to your quietest whisper, and free me to seek your perfect will.
Heal the wounds that cripple my response, and wipe away the tears
that blind me to your glory.
Bless me and I will find the strength to be weak.
~~~~~~~

Heavenly Father, as you are ever old and ever new, make me mindful of the need to be both:  old enough to understand the needs of your world and young enough to see the wonder of your creation.

~~~~~~
Please God, help me to trust you;
to know deep down in my heart that you are truly, the wind beneath my wings.
Help me to trust you completely – then you will lead me along ways I never knew existed,
you will lift me up to soar amongst heights unguessed at,
you will free me to do more of those things I thought were impossible.
